Entry is open to all designers (jewellery or any other design disciplines). Entries must be submitted in the name of the individual only. The participant must be a citizen of India and can be resident anywhere in India . You may use photocopies / Xerox of the entry forms for each jewellery design being submitted.

By entering this competition, you agree to read and abide by the following rules, regulations, terms and conditions of AngloGold Ashanti AuDITIONS Gold Jewellery Design Competition 05/06. These may include any interview, public appearance, and / or event related to the competition, and as may be devised from time to time by World Gold Council. You also agree to accept the decision of World Gold Council and the Panel of Judges appointed by World Gold Council as final and binding.

Authentication of the Entry Form: You hereby represent and warrant that you have truthfully and accurately completed this application form and that the information you have provided here is in no way misleading or inaccurate or incorrect. You furthermore acknowledge and confirm that World Gold Council reserves the right exercisable at any time and at its sole discretion to disqualify you from the competition process should you at any point in time provide untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and information, break the rules or otherwise be in breach of terms contained herein. You confirm that you do not have any criminal record nor have been an un-discharged insolvent or of an unsound mind.

Dispute Resolution: You acknowledge that World Gold Council in no way warrants represents guarantees or promises any rewards or prizes other than those specifically stated for the design competition and such prizes shall not be liable to you in the unlikely event that the prize providers do not make good on the prizes promised by them. You further acknowledge and confirm that World Gold Council shall not directly or indirectly pay or reimburse to you or any third party any costs, charges, expenses, losses, damages and the like pursuant to you participating or attempting to participate in the design competition or in relation to the design competition or anything touching upon the design competition. You are participating in the design competition solely and exclusively out of your free will without any compulsions whatsoever and that you shall bear, pay and incur all costs, charges, expenses, losses, damages and the like arising out of or relating to the design competition. You shall not directly or indirectly claim or seek reimbursement or demand any money or compensation whether in money terms or in kind or otherwise whatsoever from World Gold Council or from any third party in relation to your participation or attempted participation in the design competition. In the matter of interpretation of any rules and regulations of the design competition, the decision of World Gold Council shall be final and binding on you. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai , India .

Creative Brief & Judging Criteria:

  • Theme: Your design must be inspired by the theme.
  • Originality: Your design must be original. It should not have been entered in any other jewellery design competition.
  • Innovative: Your design should be innovative. Judges are looking for well developed design ideas.
  • Practicality for Manufacture and Wearability: Your design should be practical, functional and easy-to-wear.
  • Statement Jewellery: Your design should be beautiful, bold and expressive. You may enter more than one set of designs, each design will be judged independently. Designs should not include the following materials: diamonds, gemstones, pearls, or any materials from endangered species.

Design specifications

  • The designs should be in plain gold (22ct and above) with a set of 3 pieces.
  • The neckwear is compulsory and the optional pieces can be earrings, bangles, armlet, ring, waist belt etc.
  • Each design must indicate the type of item on the face of the design (e.g. neck piece, bracelet).
  • The weight of the 3 piece set of jewellery designed SHOULD be in the range of 150 - 250g of 22ct gold and above (yellow, rose and white gold are permitted).
  • The jewellery design may have other substrates like wood, leather, colored stones etc., however this should be restricted to 10% by value and visibility.
  • All designs must be made on plain white paper and mounted on a black cardboard measuring 297mm by 210mm (A4) in size.
  • The entry form should be pasted on the reverse side of the black cardboard, on which the jewellery design will be mounted by you.
  • Designs must be to scale or large enough to show the detail of the design. It has to be in 1:1 proportion.
  • The submission must include a technical drawing, which details the types of finishes, the materials used, manufacturing techniques and an educated estimate of the weight of the piece.
  • Design submitted must not have any identification marks on the face of the Design board.
  • Design MUST be original and MAY NOT have been offered for sale, publicly displayed or entered in any other jewellery design competition.
  • Good drawing is desirable but not essential. It is the design idea that is being judged not it’s rendering.
  • Entrants must retain copies of their designs and technical specifications. Should they be selected as a winner, they will require these for working purpose.

Designs not conforming to ALL of the above WILL NOT be accepted. No exceptions will be made.

How to Enter: In order to enter you must submit the following: The entry form enclosed (or a photocopy thereof), completed in full and in the languages specified in the entry form. DO NOT leave any areas of the entry form incomplete. The inspiration for your design must contain a write up which can be included in any marketing materials which World Gold Council may compile. The rendered design(s) together with the technical drawing(s) as outlined above.

Date of Submission: Please submit your designs at the earliest possible. The last date of receipt of entries is 31 st Oct 2005.

Please note that all designs have to be sent by ordinary mail to the above mentioned addresses only. World Gold Council will not be responsible for non receipt of applications / entries or incomplete or mutilated designs caused by transportation / postal system.

Judging: A panel of independent judges will be selected by World Gold Council. The judges' selection will be final and binding and not subject to any challenge whatsoever. All entries will be kept strictly confidential throughout the judging process.

Prizes:

  • One Overall winner's prize of 1 Kilogram of Gold.
  • One Second prize will be 250gms of Gold.
  • One Third prize will be 100gms of Gold.
  • The designs shortlisted for the final round will be awarded 20gms of Gold each.

Apart from attractive prizes the winners talent may also be widely acknowledged.

Notification to Winners: Only the winners will be notified by post.

Property & Property: World Gold Council and or its partners will own the copyright and intellectual property relating to design submission and the designs can be used commercially or otherwise in any form. In consideration of the participant participating in this design competition, the participant unconditionally and irrevocably hereby surrenders, assigns and transfers all and any intellectual property rights in the design submitted by the participant in favor of World Gold Council. The participant confirms that participation in the design competition is an adequate consideration for surrendering, assigning and transferring all and any intellectual property rights in favor of World Gold Council in the design submitted by the participant. The design sent by the participants will be the property of World Gold Council and will not be returned to the participants.

Publicity & Promotion: There will be an embargo on the publicity of the actual piece until the formal Awards presentation in the first quarter of 2006. Following the Awards function, photographs of the winning pieces and articles about AngloGold Ashanti AuDITIONS Gold Jewellery Design Competition 05/06 will be released to the consumer and trade press. The winners will be invited to attend the Awards presentations.
